Culver Lab

University of Arizona

Research

We conduct research focused on management and conservation of wildlife, and we strive to incorporate cutting-edge scientific methods into wildlife management. Over the past 18 years, the Culver lab has performed conservation genetic/genomic studies on 30-40 different species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, and invertebrates to assist management decision-making for these species through genetic analyses. We occasionally perform fresh-tissue sampling in the field, but our forte is using non-invasive samples such as scat, hair, feathers, and eDNA from soil and water. Our lab, with the Wild Cat Center, has also maintained trail cameras focused on jaguar and ocelot monitoring in Arizona from 2011 to present.
